The Facts

• Since the 1990 US Census Bureau, the Asian population has increased by 48 percent.
• 49 percent of Asians in the United States live in the West, 20 percent live in the Northeast, 19 percent lived in the South and 12 percent live in the Midwest.
• By 2020, it is projected that there will be 20 million APAs in the United States.
• Korean, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Vietnamese and Asian Indian are the top Asian American populations in the United States.
• Asian Americans have approximately $230 billion in spending power in the consumer market.
• From 1992 to 1997 there was a growth of 30 percent in Asian Americanowned companies and 46 percent growth in revenue.
• More than 2.2 million workers are employed by Asian American-owned businesses.
• Asian American-owned businesses sales exceed $1 million, which is over 50 percent of all minority-owned businesses
